NP 110: Introduction to Nutritional Psychology Methods

The foundational course in the growing field of nutritional psychology.


This course is the first in a next-generation curriculum in nutritional psychology and is designed to lay the foundation of study in nutritional psychology and serve as a resource for mental health professionals, nutritionists, and allied health professionals. It can also be placed within the university environment to train future professionals, as well as all other individuals who would benefit from understanding the diet-mental health relationship. 

Please note that NO PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS of nutritional psychology are provided in this course. That content will be covered in the NP 200 series.

CNP is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor Continuing Education (CE) for psychologists and mental health providers, by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) to provide CE credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), and by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) to provide Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for Licensed Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians, Registered (RDs/DTRs). This course provides 10 CE credits and 10 CPE credits. CNP maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Upon completion of NP 110 (including the general course evaluation), please message your instructor and provide your full name and provider or license number. We will validate your course completion and issue a certificate meeting BBS criteria.

APA (Instructions):

For those of you who are licensed psychologists, the certificate at the end of the course is sufficient. You do not need to contact us for anything additional.

CDR (Instructions):

To meet CDR requirements, you must complete NP 110, the general course evaluation, and an additional CDR-required evaluation. This additional CDR evaluation is titled "NP 110 CDR Critical Thinking Evaluation Tool for Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs)" and can be found at the end of the course. Upon completing these requirements, please message your instructor and provide your full name and provider number. We will validate your course completion and provide you with a certificate meeting CDR criteria.
